The West Contra Costa Unified School District Citizens' Bond Oversight Committee has a Training Subcommittee. This subcommittee has been working with district staff to develop training resources for committee members. As part of this effort, two training sessions have been planned:
Bonds 101 / September 10
Construction 101 / October 8
Public participation is encouraged, but, because it's a training, prior notification is required. To do so for either session, contact Bruce Harter directly at:
BHarter@wccusd.net or (510) 231-1101
Note the deadline for the first session: September 5th. See the copied message below for more details.
This would be an excellent learning opportunity for BOE candidates or for anyone interested in the vacant seats on the CBOC for Richmond, San Pablo, or Local One.
-------- Original Message --------
At last Wednesday’s CBOC meeting Maureen Toms, who
chairs the CBOC training committee, announced two dates for CBOC member
training, September 10 and October 8. The topic for the September 10
training is “Bonds 101” – an overview of how
school district bonds work and the sales in WCCUSD. The October 8
training is for “Construction 101” and will include the basics of
building and rebuilding schools. There will be time during each session
for questions and answers.
Both trainings will be from 6:30 to 8:00 PM in the
Facilities Operation Center, 1400 Marina Way in Richmond and are open to
the public.
Please let me know if you’ll be able to attend one
or both of these trainings. For next week’s training, I need to know by
Friday, September 5. If you invite members of the public to attend, I
do need to know who will be attending so
that the logistics for the trainings are appropriately set up.
Thanks
Bruce
